Jasmine: After weeks of eagerly anticipating Baby D’s arrival, decorating the nursery and researching loads of baby stuff, we decided to do one final staycation at St Regis. It was one of our best staycations so far as we almost never had to leave the hotel-we had dinner at Brasserie Les Saveurs, lunch at Yan Ting and a prenatal massage at the famous Remede Spa! Thanks dear for the lovely treat!
(The last pictures of Baby D in my tummy at 39 weeks pregnant- whoa!)
Anyway, the timing was perfect, as I began experiencing contractions late that evening after we checked out. The contractions lasted from 3am on Sunday morning to 8pm on Sunday night, when they became regular and intense enough that we decided to go to hospital. Before that, though, I made sure to have a nice hot shower and a good dinner because WE MUST GET OUR PRIORITIES RIGHT. Hahaha.
Thankfully labour was short… We had heard that excruciatingly long labours were the norm for first-time mothers, but Baby D arrived in just about 2 hours to everyone’s surprise! Andrew was there with me every step of the way and to be honest, it all happened so quickly that all I remember was the thrill of hearing his first cry, and holding him and watching his little eyes open one by one. Here are some picture of our precious baby Dylan at one day old, captured by (who else?) my sister and his auntie, Charlene Ee Ee:
The little one just turned one month old last week and it’s been one of the hardest but also best and most fulfilling months of my life.
